Title: Gimpy Dog Tries Patience

One of our dogs (Jasmine) has had a limping problem for the past two weeks or so.  She can still get around plenty fast, but she does it like a tripod, keeping her back-left leg lifted.  Its' driving me crazy, because she wants to run around, and play frisbee (my favorite relaxing activity), and all the things she normally does.  Some days I look at her hobbling around trying to run, and it makes me want to cry.

We took her to a "specialist" last week and they told us that she likely has a partial ACL tear.  They want us to keep her on rest for four weeks, and this is proving to not be an easy task at all.  She still runs, jumps on and off couches, and all sorts of other terrible things.  We can only hope that because she's doing these with her injured leg partially lifted, that she's resting the leg in question.  I doubt it though.  This is so frustrating to me - I'm used to problems that can be solved by hacking a few bits of code together, not all this mess.

Seems the only way to get her any rest is going to be to keep her in her crate all the time.  The only other option I can think of is to drug her to stay still, though with her energy level this might take the tranquilizer gun from "Old School".  I'm worried about her brain almost as much as her leg - it has gotta be confusing for her to be confined to the crate while her brat of a sister is wandering around peeing all over the house.

She has been getting better at staying still over the week, so I'm still semi-hopeful that she won't need surgery, but every time she jumps or fights with the other dog, a bit of this hope goes away.  I'd almost rather they just did the surgery so she could get on the road to recovery.  Almost. By the time these next three weeks have passed it could be another story though.  Keeping fingers crossed.
